Event Regulations and Eligibility Criteria
Event Regulations
The Scottish Nationals and Masters 2023 is open to all players of all standards aged 18 and above. Players aged 14-17 may enter but they must be accompanied by an appropriate adult and the entry must be approved by the Championships Director.
Players may only play a maximum of one event per day, with the exception of Friday, where players can enter doubles and singles. The singles will be played in the early evening.
Because of limitations with number of courts, some Masters rating categories are amalgamated. The organisers reserve the right to make further changes to the rating categories if required.
Eligibility Criteria
Players must be a) born in Scotland; or b) live permanently in Scotland; or c) have a parent or grandparent born in Scotland; AND d) NOT played in another Association's national championships within the same year. Must belong to Pickleball Scotland or an other association which is a member of World Pickleball Federation

The organisers reserve the right not to hold an event, or to amalgamate ratings if insufficient entries are received. Entries for each event will be closed once maximum numbers are reached – entries received are accepted on a first-come basis.

Both players in a doubles event must submit an entry. Players entering ‘partner wanted’ will be paired if a partner is available.
Each event will be run in round-robin groups to give players maximum value for money. Winners and runners-up of each group will go forward to a knock-out stage.
The tournament will be played in accordance with the IFP Official Rules 2023. Details of these can be found on the IFP website and downloaded here. Specific amendments to particular rules (court size, match scoring, ball type etc.) for the Scottish Nationals and Masters will be published prior to the tournament.
For the Masters (age group) events, players' age is considered as at 31 December 2023. You can only play in an age-group category if your age on 31 December is within the category, e.g., if you are 48 on 31 December 2023 you cannot play in the 50+ or 60+.
Players can play down an age group, and Masters players may choose to play in the Nationals (open age) instead.
